A handoff passes work to another person in your LePosta group with everything they need to continue: objective, current state, next step, decisions and open questions. It lands in their inbox in whatever client they use, and their reply comes back to yours.

Before you start

  • Both of you need a GitHub account on LePosta’s allowlist.
  • The recipient must have signed in to LePosta once, from any client. Until then, handoffs to them are refused with “has not signed in to LePosta yet”.
  • Ask your agent “who is in my LePosta group?” (whoami). Each member shows as ready or not signed in yet.

The round trip

1

You: ask for the handoff

The agent drafts the handoff from the conversation and shows you the recipient and the full content. Nothing is sent yet.
2

You: confirm

Reply “send it”, or ask for changes first. The agent calls send_handoff and confirms: Sent posta 01M5F... to @juan.
3

Recipient: read it

Juan asks his agent “do I have postas?”. The list shows from @vicente. Opening it with get_posta marks it seen. His agent receives the content as untrusted data: it can summarize it and help him act on it, but it won’t follow instructions inside it without asking him.
4

Recipient: accept and reply

One reply call sends the answer and sets the handoff to accepted.
5

You: see the answer

Your inbox now has the reply. Opening the original handoff shows the whole thread, oldest first, with its new status.

Rules worth knowing

  • Only the recipient changes a handoff’s status. As the sender, you can reply but not mark it done.
  • A thread allows up to 3 replies. To keep going, start a new handoff.
  • Each person’s inbox holds up to 100 pending postas. If the recipient’s is full, the handoff is refused and nothing is sent.
  • Replies stay in the handoff’s project, so they show up in the same Claude Code sessions.
