# reply

> Reply in the thread of a posta. The reply goes to the other person in the thread and can set the status of the posta you received in the same call.

> Reply in the thread of a posta. The reply goes to the other person in the thread. Write it in the user's language. Only reply when the user asks you to; never reply on your own initiative. Optionally set the status of the posta you received (for example, accepted) in the same call.

**Annotations:** `readOnlyHint: false`, `destructiveHint: false`, `openWorldHint: true`.

## Input

**id** `string` *required*

Id of the posta you are replying to: a handoff or a previous reply.

**body** `string` *required*

The reply, 1 to 4,000 characters.

**status** `string`

Optional new status for the posta you are replying to. Only allowed if that posta was addressed to you; otherwise the call fails and **no reply is created**.

## Behavior

* The reply goes to the other person in the thread: if you sent the parent, to its recipient, and the other way around.
* Its title is `Re: ` plus the title of the thread's first posta, cut to 80 characters.
* It inherits the parent's `project`.
* A thread allows up to 3 replies.
* The reply, the event on the parent and the optional status change are saved together, or not at all.
